From the year 2005 to 2007, Selmer Paris created limited edition versions of the extraordinary Reference 54 to commemorate the great Charlie Parker. The Kookaburra model of 2006 includes an elaborate engraving of two Kookaburras perched on branches and a honeygold lacquer. There were only 330 of these altos made for the USA market.
While this particular example does present signs of lacquer wear, especially on the backside of the body tube, it continues to emanate its gorgeous design and character. The red paint on the "S" of the neck makes a true statement of uniqueness along with the limited engraving.
The horn plays excellently from top to bottom with the superior sound quality you would expect from a Selmer Reference 54. This model includes a High F# key. It comes packed safely in a green ProTec case and is ready to sing!
